Speaking History is an open-access, peer-reviewed platform designed for sharing concise, illustrated, and captivating stories from history. Each narrative is rooted in a specific time and place, exploring sites, events, individuals, organisations, species, plants, or aspects of nature and their connection to human society. This blog has been created for purely educational purposes. Its target audience comprises students and individuals interested in history and environmental issues. The notion that history does not repeat itself in a literal sense does not imply that it is devoid of relevance. Rather, it recounts its narrative through new prototypes. The passage of time often returns us to a similar set of circumstances, albeit with different actors. In this regard, history serves as a profound framework for contemplating contemporary challenges and can be utilized as a guide for future endeavours.
We welcome contributions from scholars, research students, and professionals engaged in environmental history and the social sciences. Submissions may explore a specific theme or take the form of general field notes reflecting on the contemporary relevance of human–nature interactions.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our editorial team at speakinghistoryblog@gmail.com.
